The room turn
The room-turn checklist
Pick the kind of property. The list is what housekeeping does before we arrive, and the next tab is what stays closed after we leave.
Hotel room
Before the technician arrives.
Mark the room out of order in the property system
Hold the rooms beside, above and below, if they are vacant
Leave the bed, linens, towels and drapes as they are
Don't vacuum, spray or move furniture
Send the room number and floor by text, not the guest's name
Tell the front desk who may enter, and nobody else
Rental unit
Before the technician arrives.
Block the unit on every calendar, including synced ones
Leave the beds made up as the guest left them
Keep the guest's bags where they are until the inspection
Don't wash linens or carry them to the laundry
Send the unit number and the next check-in by text
Leave the lockbox code with us, and change it after the visit
After we leave
What stays closed until the report releases the room.
Keep the room out of inventory until you have read the report
Follow the report on what to launder and how
Keep the follow-up date on the housekeeping board
Report anything new to us by text with the room number
Don't re-dress the bed before the room is released in writing
The report for your room may change these steps, and a technician's word on the day outranks this page.
For housekeeping leads
What not to do
Don't strip the bed
Carrying linens through a hall moves the problem to a new room.
Don't spray
Store-bought sprays can scatter bed bugs into the walls. Leave treatment to the licensed technician.
Don't move furniture
A headboard or a nightstand moved to another room takes its problem with it.
Don't tell the floor
Talk about the room only with the manager. Guests hear rumors faster than reports.
